Library System

           With a view to cater the library and information needs of teachers, students as well as research and extension personnel, the library system was reorganized in 1980, forming Central Library at Hyderabad and Regional Libraries at Tirupati and Bapatla and College Libraries at other campuses.  All the Libraries started computerization during the AHRD Project. However with the NATP support during 2001-2005, the Central Library has been completely automated and a large collection of thesis has been digitized. Further a number of CD-ROM Databases subscribed at Central Library and various college Libraries for the benefit of students and staff.

Library Management

            The Libraries function under the overall supervision of the University Librarian. The Regional Library and the College Libraries are run by the Assistant Librarians under the administrative control of the Associate Deans in the respective colleges.

Books and Periodicals

All the libraries together continued to receive over 600 Indian and foreign periodicals. In addition, the Central Library stacks about one lakh books and 7800 dissertations and 5000 reports.  With a view to help the SC, ST and BC students, special textbook collections (multiple numbers) have been built up at each of the campuses. Students can borrow a book for one semester at a nominal charge of Rs.1 to Rs5.
Separate reference book collection (like dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs etc., is established in each of the campuses.                             
      

Reprographic Services     

            The photocopying facilities available in all the campuses have been put to maximum use. We charge nominal charge of 50 paise per page xeroxing.

Computerization

The Central library is very rich in collection and is fully automated and it has the inter-networking communication links, low cost storage solutions, powerful desktops, workstations, servers and multimedia hardware and software technologies and entered into electronic era. Internet access is provided to students at a cost of Rs.10 per hour.

CD-ROM DATABASES:

The Central Library at Hyderabad and two Regional Libraries at Tirupati and Bapatla are provided with CD-ROM database searches by subscribing to CAB Abstracts, Biotechnology Abstracts,  AGRIS Database, FOOD & HUMAN NUTRITION Database, FST etc. from 1984 to present. CD-ROM Network servers are established in the 3 major libraries of the University. More than 20,000 searches were performed during the year at each of the campuses and this has saved the time of researchers and faculty in collecting the review of literature.

OPAC:

The Libraries are fully automated and using LIBSYS software.  Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is completed at the Central Library and the readers can access the bibliographic details of the books through the computer terminals. Books are now being issued through barcode labels and scanners. The serial control module is also finished and the readers can search for the journals through computers.

DIGITIZATION:

Central Library has started Digitization Project. It has completed digitizing 7500 Ph.D and M.Sc theses and the abstracts of digitized documents available. There is a total collection of 2.5 lakhs books in all the libraries and subscribing 500 Indian & Foreign Journals. The Central Library at Hyderabad and Regional Libraries at Tirupati and Bapatla are subscribing  CAB-CD database right from 1984 onwards. The CD-Towers were established at all the major three libraries and sufficient terminals are provided to students and staff for database access. Photocopying facility is available in all the libraries. LAN & WAN Connectivity has been provided through the Computer Center of the University.

CMIE STTISTICS:

Central Library, Hyderabad. Is subscribing to CMIE Database where  Area, production and productivity of all the crops in India can be searched through this database.

ONLINE JOURNALS:

Online searches to e-journals is now possible in the Central Library through EBSCO E-Journal Subscription.

Exchange of University Publications

            The Central Library distributed 60 copies of  ‘Journal of Research ANGRAU’ various national and international institutes. On exchange, the Central Library receivers foreign and Indian publications worth over Rs.50, 000.
