I. OBJECTIVE

  1. To enumerate the services delivered by the University.
  2. To make the students/parents aware of the services provided by the University through different colleges and to deliver student friendly quality services to the students of the various levels of Higher Education.
  3. Constantly improve and generate technologies for increasing production, productivity and profitability in Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors.
  4. To facilitate provision of latest technologies in Agricultural production thereby enhancing the economic status of the farmers.

Admission Procedure:

Admission to Indian Students

Under Graduate Programme

The University offers various UG degree courses in the faculties of Agriculture, and Home Science at its constituent colleges in A.P. State, the main campus being Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.  The medium of instruction for all the U.G. Courses in ENGLISH.

Criteria for admission

The students are admitted into all U.G. courses except B.Sc (Hons.) Home Science  based on their performance in the state level Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) conducted by Department of Higher Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.  B.Sc (Hons.) Home Science only women candidates are eligible for admission with a pass in two year Intermediate Examination with Bi.P.C or M.P.C, without any need for appearing for any entrance test including EAMCET.  After  the results of the entrance test are notified by the authorities, the University shall invite applications from eligible candidates through Notification in some of the leading News papers indicating the ANGRAU website address for downloading the Application forms and to send along with all necessary enclosures to reach the Registrar on or before the date/specified from time to time.

Age

The candidates for admission to First Year Under-Graduate courses in the University shall be required to have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission with an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates, 25 years in case of  SC and ST candidates and 27 years for Physically challenged.

The eligible candidates shall be required to attend personal counselling perusing as per the intimation/notification in the News papers and be admitted to different U.G Programmers depending on their individual merit as determined by the ‘rank’ obtained in EAMCET following the presidential order (Regional allotment), the rule of reservation as per orders of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Reservation weightage for different categories

  1. Backward Classes =    29% (A=7%,  B=10%,  C= 1%,  D=7%,  E=4%).
  2. Scheduled Caster  =    15 %
  3. Scheduled Tribes  =    6%
  4. For women            =    33.3%
  5. Physically Handicapped candidates = 3 %(1% each under Visually, Hearing and Orthopaedically impaired categories)
  6. Children of Ex-Servicemen and Defence Personnel =  2 %

Other Reservations:

  1. 40 % of the seats in B.Sc (Ag.), B.Tech (Ag. Engg.), B. Sc.(CA & BM) and B. Tech. (Food Science) courses are reserved for candidates coming from families of Agriculturists actually engaged in and owning not less than 3 acres of land and who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in Schools located in Non-Municipal areas.  Candidates seeking admission under this category should produce a certificate in Form 3 of application containing patta numbers and extent of land obtained from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Mandal Reveue Officer of the Mandal Concerned or a certified copy of Pattadar Pass Book issued by the Mandal Revenue Officer and also a Certificate in Form 4 of Application form the Heads of Institutions that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in Schools located in Non-Municpal areas during their period of study from 1st class to 12th class.

  2. If the certificates as referred to under clasue(a) above are not filled in proforma in the application form duly signed by the Head of Institution Concerned officer as mentioned above along with office seal, the claim of the candidates under this category will be rejected.

Foreign candidates nominated by the GOI/ICAR who secure an aggregate of 50% of marks in Optional subjects and have passed the qualifying examination in one attempt are eligible to seek admission in the faculty of Agriculture.  Candidates nominated by GOI/ICAR must have passed Physics/Chemistry/ Biology or Mathematics and English up to 12th standard with an aggregate of 50% marks are eligible for the U.G. courses in ANGR Agricultural University.

Postgraduate Programmes
Candidates belonging to Andhra Pradesh are admitted to Master's degree programmes based on their performance in an Entrance Examination conducted separately for Agriculture, Home Science and their previous academic record. Based on their performance in the entrance examination, candidates are allotted to different disciplines within a faculty. PG students belonging to Andhra Pradesh are also eligible to earn a stipend of Rs.2,500/- p.m. for M.Sc. (Except Environmental Scicence and Technology, Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, M.A.B.M)(10 months in a year) & Rs.3,500/- p.m. for Ph.D (upto 25 months) provided by the Govt. of A.P.

Twenty five percent (25%) of the seats in Masters degree courses are reserved for candidates belonging to other states. The selection of these candidates is based on the All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi, Notification may be issued around March and examination conducted in May - June every year.

Post Gradate courses leading to Masters degree are offered in 12 disciplines in Agriculture and 5 in Home Science. Doctoral degree programmes are available in 10 disciplines in Agriculture and 5 disciplines in Home Science. In addition, inter-faculty Master degree programmes are being offered in Agri. Business Management, Food Science and Technology, Agril. Biotechnology and Environmental Science and Technology.

Consequent to the establishment of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University at Tirupati in 2005 the teaching, research and extension programmes pertaining to Veterinary Science, Dairying and Fishery Science have been transferred to the new University.

Admission to Foreign Students

The University encourages foreign students to seek admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate degree Programmes.  Their application for admission should be routed through the Asst. Director General (HRD-II), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan, New Delhi- 110012.

The application should include complete details of academic record indicating courses studied, grades obtained, medium of instruction and research work conducted for the submission of a thesis/dissertation (incase of candidates seeking admission to postgraduate degree programmes only).  The applications thus received are scrutinized and evaluated by the concerned department (faculty head) to determine the eligibility of the candidate for admission.

Students applying for admission to Ph.D degree programme, should obtain a valid Research Visa from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The fee payable by foreign Students admitted to Any UG or PG degree programme should pay institutional fee of  US $  4000 (US dollars Four Thousand only) annually in addition to the normal fees payable by the Indian Students.

C. Services Rendered under Extension

            
          The University works in active association and close co-operation with farmers through frequent farmer-scientist interactions. To solve many problems and complicated issues of farmers with ease, the University reorganized its extension activities by establishing the "District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centers"(DAATTC) at all the 22 district head quarters in the state, barring Hyderabad urban district during 1998.

Services provided by DAATT Centres:

  • Assessing and refining the technologies generated by the research scientists and their suitability to different farming situations.
  • Assessing the potentials of the district by developing database in order to exploit district resources and developing action plans in cooperation with line departments.
  • Conducting field diagnostic visit, identify the field problems and provide scientific solutions.
  • Organizing Kisan Melas in coordination with line departments.
  • Extending scientific expertise to the line departments in the conduct of training programmes to officials, farmers and input agencies.
  • Establishing linkages with research institutes and other district units.
  • Assisting and implementing the RAWE programme, internship programmes.
  • Maintaining Information Center at each district head quarter in cooperation with the line departments of the district.
  • Supplying need based scientific/popular information to the line departments on enterprises for their printing/multiplication and distribution to the farmers.
  • Coordinating with All India Radio, Television and print media for transmission of needed agricultural information in the district.
  • Implementing any other extension programme that may be taken by the University, from time to time, in coordination with the line departments.

The services provided by Krishi Vigyan Kendras:

  1. Imparting sill oriented programmes to illiterate, small, marginal, landless farmers, farm women and rural youth by organizing short and long term vocational training courses and income generating activities.
  2. Demonstrations of latest technological developments in the instructional farms of KVKs.
  3. Technology Assessment and Refinement in the farmers’ field conditions.

Extension Education Institute

This institute caters to the training needs of extension personnel of different line departments of 5 southern states and union territories viz., Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa states and Union territories – Andaman Nicobar Islands, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. Trainers training institutes like FTCs, KVKs and Master trainers of state agricultural Universities and teachers are also trained at EEI.

The services provided by Agricultural Technology & Information Centre (ATIC)

            ATIC is a “Single Window” support system linking the various units of a research institution with intermediary users and end users (farmers) in decision-making and problem solving exercise. The services provided are:

  1. Diagnostic services
  2. Agril information Centre
  3. Printing and sale of Publications
  4. Sale of Seedlings/seeds
  5. Production and sale of Video Cassettes, VCDs.

The services provided at adopted Villages
One village, by each of the major and medium research stations and all colleges was adopted, with effect from kharif 1998. Services provided are:

  1. Improving the productivity of important crops of the village by adopting technologies recommended by the scientists of the University.
  2. Improving the overall economic status of the farmers and farm women, through technological interventions and farming systems approach.
  3. Conducting Front Line Demonstrations, on-farm research and refining technology, adaptive trials etc.

More than 50 villages have been adopted by all the University centers Viz, during 1998, for their overall development. In these villages, all activities of the University, be it research, teaching or extension including RAWE, RHWE, and NSS and other extra-curricular activities are implemented.

Kisan Melas

Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University has been organizing Kisan Melas through its centers to intensify extension services of University and to create awareness and educate farmers about latest farming technologies and recent developments in agriculture and allied fields.

Mass Media Support to Agricultural Extension

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is utilizing all mass media channels like Electronic Media (T.V & Radio) print media, to disseminate latest agricultural technologies to the farmers of Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere.  Utilization of mass media channels at the time of natural vagaries is immense.

The University is first in the country in utilizing a private TV channel ETV for dissemination of latest agricultural and allied field technologies in the form of lessons under the name of Annadata Velugubata.  The University records the programmes and telecast through ETV twice in a week on Tuesday and Friday.  The Electronic wing of the University is producing this programme since 2nd October 1998. 

The Doordarshan Kendra, Hyderabad in collaboration with the University is conducting phone-in-live programme once in a week for which technical inputs like topics to be telecasted, subject matter and scientists are from the University.

The Doordarshan, Hyderabad is also telecasting agricultural programmes recorded by the University for a duration of 10 minutes twice a week in Gramadarsini from 6.15 – 6.45 PM.

In addition to these regular programmes, Doordarshan Kendra, Hyderabad and its local Kendras are recording special agricultural Programmes with the help of University scientists and are telecasting through its centers.

The Electronic Wing of the University has produced interactive crop CDs.

Radio Programmes:

ANGR Agricultural University is utilizing Radio in a big way to disseminate information to the farmers. The University sends Vyavasaya Samacharam to All India Radio, Hyderabad that broadcasts the same for 10 minutes every day from 6.50 to 7.00 Pm on different topics and the same is relayed by all the other Radio Stations in the entire State.
The University scientists from time to time give interviews, lessons and answers to the letters through all the Radio stations in the State. The University scientists are also participating in the Phone-in-live programmes conducted by different Radio stations across the State.

The University sends weather base agricultural information twice a week for the benefit of farmers. It also gives special messages at the time of floods, droughts, pest and disease outbreaks etc.

Print Media

Print media includes press notes, popular articles and publications. The scientific community of the University release press notes more frequently to the leading newspapers both in Telugu and English. They write popular articles to daily newspapers as well as agricultural magazines published from this State in Telugu by the State Dept. of Agriculture and other private publications like Annadatha, Annadatha Sukheebhava, Rytuvani, Rytanna, Rythunestham and others.

The Research Stations of the University publishes bulletins, leaflets and pamphlets at the time of special occasions like Kisan Melas, Field Days and distribute to the farmers on free of cost.

Agricultural Information  & Communication Centre and University Press

The Agricultural Information and Communication Center of the University processes the latest information generated by its Research Stations to disseminate the same to the farming community and extension personnel through priced & un-priced publications viz., Vyavasaya Panchangam (the farmer's almanac), Manuals, Extension Highlights and Diagnostic bulletins on different crops both in Telugu and English. About 15,000 copies of Vyavasaya Panchangam are printed every year and sold. Twenty-three unique diagnostic bulletins (both in English & Telugu) of highest quality were published and printed for the first time in the country covering 64 crops with 283 insects 436 diseases 116 nutritional disorders comprising 1839 photographs.

Kisan Call Centre

The Govt. of India has identified Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) of ANGR Agricultural University, Hyderabad as one of the “Level 2 Centres” to answer farmer's queries. A toll free telephone No.1551 (Kisan Call Centre) was installed on 21-1-2004. Calls received from the farmers to their Call Centre are escalated to this phone, to answers the farmer's queries. It is having the facility of talking directly with the farmers and sometimes this center answers the Interactive Voice response calls (calls which were received out of office hours) the next working day. The discipline allotted to this center is package of practices and impact of weather on all crops grown in AP.

Expert Nodal Centre

National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), Hyderabad has identified ATIC as Expert Nodal Centre for dissemination of Technology through satellites by establishing computer systems with web cam facility in the villages.

The purpose of this charter is to provide better quality and quick service to employees (Teaching and Non-Teaching) of the University.

III.  REDRESSAL MECHANISM

In case the above schedule is not adhered to, Administrative head of respective institution can be approached Registrar in the Administrative office, concerned Associate Directors of Research in research stations and Extension centres & Associate Deans in colleges and heads of other Institutes/Centres, shall personally see that the grievance is redressed on the same day or the next day.

IV.  WHOM TO APPROACH

If something goes wrong or if there is any delay in any service, the Employee can write or phone to the concerned officer as listed under contact addresses with telephone numbers (pl. refer page 9) during working hours or can also register complaints at the e-mail address, angrau@ap.nic.in

The Registrar shall be contacted when the grievance is not redressed within the stipulated time by the Officers concerned.

 (14)                 Through the D.O.Lr.No.30692/KPS/S/GPM&AR/2006-01 dt.21.04.2006, the Secretary to Government, General Administration Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh has requested ANGRAU to take immediate action, to formulate and implement Citizens Charter and Employees Charter and to furnish the same.
           
            The needed information was collected from the Deans and Directors of ANGRAU and the consolidated information is herewith furnished for kind perusal and approval. Permission is also requested to place the same in the University Officers Meeting, for approval.

II.  Provides the following services to Citizens:

            The University through its wide infrastructure of 58 research stations located in seven agro-climatic zones of the state strive to fulfill the basic Philosophy of research aimed at finding location-specific solutions to various problems affecting Agriculture and Horticulture productivity and profitability.  The University has generated several improved location-specific technologies, released 328 improved varieties/hybrids in important crops.  The scientists of the University sensitize farmers on latest varieties/technologies developed, measures for reducing the cost of cultivation, pest and disease out breaks through the programmes of the ANGRAU viz., AMC level training programmes, Electronic media, Print media, Tele Agriculture, Face to face seminars, Interactive modules, Kisan Melas, Rythu Sadassus, Exhibitions, RAWE programme, Diagnostic Teams & Joint Field visits and Publications Rythu polallo Sasthravethalu, Rythu chaithanya Yatralu organizing training programmes and demonstrations through its centre of activities viz.,  KVKs, AI & CC, Electronic Media Wing, EEI, ATIC, Call Centre, Expert Group, Crop Escorts, Scientists deployed at ADA Divisions, DAATTCs. The University produces and supplies breeder seed/foundation seed of important crops.
