1. General

 

 
Agricultural College, Bapatla was started on 11th July 1945 by the erstwhile Government of composite Madras State on the recommendations of the Post War Reconstruction Committee.  It is the oldest among 12 Agricultural Colleges in Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU).  It was started with the aim of imparting Agricultural education for under graduate students and to turn out the Agricultural Graduates to man various post war reconstruction schemes.

The College was affiliated to Andhra University on the recommendations of Late (Sir) C.R. Reddy, Leader, and Inspection Team to the College and was under the administrative control  of the Directorate of Agriculture of erstwhile Madras State. Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established June 12, 1964.  Since then, the college expanded rapidly both academically and physically with the addition of postgraduate and doctoral programmers.  Many infrastructure facilities were added in terms of buildings and equipment for improvising the academic status in Agricultural Education.  The College celebrated its Silver Jubilee during 1970-71, Golden Jubilee during 1994-95 and Diamond Jubilee during 2006.

Bapatla is situated in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on the East Coast of India at an elevation of 5m above the sea level and 7 km away from the Coast of the Bay of Bengal at the intersection of 150 54N latitude and 800 30E Longitude.  The college is about one km away from the Bapatla Railway Station on the Chennai – Vijayawada rail route.
